Frequently Asked Questions
Below are the questions we hear most often, grouped by topic. If you don't see your question answered here, feel free to call (615) 624-7422 or just stop by, we're happy to answer anything in person as well.
Evaluations & Testing
Every evaluation we perform happens in front of you, using professional testing equipment, and the process is the same regardless of whether you're selling one item or a whole collection.
Will my items be damaged during testing?
No. We use non-destructive testing methods on jewelry, coins, and bullion whenever possible, meaning the vast majority of items we test show no visible change afterward. Heavily plated or unstamped items may occasionally need a small test cut to confirm content, and we'll always explain why before we do it, so nothing happens without you understanding the reason first.
How do I know if my jewelry is real gold or silver?
Most solid gold jewelry carries a karat stamp like 14K or 18K, or a fineness mark like 585 or 750. Sterling silver is usually stamped 925. If you're not sure, or you don't see a stamp at all, bring it in. We'll test it for you at no cost, and there's no obligation attached to finding out.
What should I bring with me?
Just the items you want evaluated and a valid photo ID. We'll walk you through anything else needed on the spot, and there's no need to prepare, clean, or sort anything beforehand.
Payment & Offers
We pay cash for most transactions, and every offer is explained before you're asked to decide anything.
Do I have to sell if I get an offer?
No. Every evaluation is free and comes with no obligation. If you want to think it over, that's completely fine, and there's no pressure or expiration attached to walking away undecided.
What payment methods do you offer?
Cash on the spot for most transactions. Ask us about other options if you're selling a larger collection or a significant quantity of bullion, since transaction size can occasionally call for a different arrangement.
Is there an age requirement to sell?
Yes. We're not able to purchase from anyone under 18, and we ask for a valid photo ID as part of every transaction to help verify this and to help prevent the sale of stolen property.
What We Buy
We purchase gold, silver, coins, currency, and bullion, and condition rarely disqualifies an item.
Do you buy broken or outdated jewelry?
Yes. Broken chains, single earrings, and outdated styles all still carry metal value, and we evaluate them the same way as anything else, condition doesn't reduce what the underlying metal is worth.
Do you buy coins and currency, or just jewelry?
Both. We evaluate coins, currency, and bullion alongside gold and silver jewelry, and each category is evaluated by its own relevant criteria: melt and collectible value for coins, weight and purity for jewelry and bullion.
Do you buy dental gold?
Yes. Gold crowns, bridges, caps, grills, and other dental alloys are evaluated for gold purity the same way any other gold item is. You don't need to clean or separate them beforehand.
Do you buy silverplate?
We'll evaluate anything you bring in, but silverplate carries little to no actual silver by weight, so offers on plated items are typically much lower than sterling. We'll explain the difference clearly during your visit.
